Charikar city, the capital of Parwan province
This city is located at the entrance of Panjshir Valley. The cloth industry of making knives and metal tools in and around Charikar is famous in Afghanistan. [3] The pottery and vines of this city are also famous. In the 1960s, Afghanistan’s largest textile factory was built in Golbahar, near Charikar. [2]
One of the sights of the city is Ghandia Gol hill. Gol Ghandi hill promenade, which is one of the spring promenades in Afghanistan, was founded in 1324 (1945) during the reign of Mir Alam Khan, the mayor of Charikar. In 1327 Khorshidibhai Jan, the poet Pashtoozban visited this hill and named it Gol Ghandi hill (Gol hill).
In legend, the foundation of Charikar city is attributed to King Jamshid. Its historical foundation is also known by the Shahkanishka dynasty of the Kushans.
In 1841, during the British War with Afghanistan, a regiment of British soldiers stationed in Charikar was massacred. On July 21, 1880, Abd al-Rahman Khandar declared the kingdom of Charikar. The forces of Habibaullah Kalkani (RA), the king of Afghanistan, took power in 1308 AH.
Later, Mohammad Gul Khan Mohmand, the Afghan interior minister who pursued a policy of Pashtunization, set fire to the city of Charikar and destroyed it.
After the Russian military intervention in 1979, Charikar became the scene of intense fighting. After the occupation of the region by the Taliban, the people of Charikardar revolted against the Taliban on the 23rd of 1375.
